Comsol appeal against planning decision
Comsol has submitted an appeal to the Planning and Environment Appeals Division of the Scottish government (DEPA) against the decision by North Ayrshire Council (NAC) to reject the application for a solar farm at the top of the island.
We haven’t been told the precise procedure for determining the appeal, which can range from a purely paper-based exercise to a full hearing.
What we do know:
- Comsol has set out its case for appealing the decision. This can be seen here.
- There will be a site visit by DEPA.
- DEPA has asked NAC to provide a response to the appeal.
- NAC has been asked to write to interested parties to inform them about the appeal.
- At the moment, we believe that representations must be made by 7 September.
Next steps - Cumbrae Community Council will:
- Prepare a detailed response to the appeal. 98% of the community who expressed an opinion oppose the development, and our response will reflect this.
- Draft guidance for people contacted by NAC so they know how to respond.
- Organise a rally in support of the democratically reached decision to reject the solar farm, which was made unanimously by the NAC planning committee.
We will provide further updates as we have them.
