CCC has published the details of its formal objection to the proposed solar farm.
Cumbrae Community Council is a statutory consultee for planning matters that affect the island. We have prepared a detailed objection to the planning application for the proposed solar farm on the site to the North East of Wee Minnemoer, next to the highest point.
We will also be making representations to the North Ayrshire Council planning committee when they consider the application, which we believe will be on 26 April.
We would like to thank the many people that contributed to preparing this objection, as well as to all those who submitted their own comments to North Ayrshire Council. We understand that around 350 comments have been submitted, a huge number for a small population, and that 98% are objections.
Additional note
The applicant subsequently submitted additional documents to North Ayrshire Council at the end of April and beginning of May, long after the consultation period had closed. This included a 17-page 'rebuttal' of the Cumbrae Community Council objection. We expressed our concern to North Ayrshire Council that no democratic scrutiny of these documents was possible, however they chose to accept them without allowing further consultation.
