A quick update on the Millport coastal flood protection scheme
At a meeting with North Ayrshire Council on 12 October 2022, it was confirmed that the process for selecting a contractor to build the flood protection scheme is ongoing. It had been expected that a contractor would be appointed in August, but complications relating to the current economic situation have resulted in delays.
However, North Ayrshire Council say that a contractor will be appointed “imminently”. They believe that this means construction should begin in February 2023 and that the flood defences will be completed in the summer of 2024.
