Solar farm rally

Join a rally for democracy on Saturday 16 September

Over the last 7 years Cumbrae has responded to 4 applications for a solar farm next to its highest point. There have been 696 comments submitted to North Ayrshire Council; 675 against (97%), 17 for and 4 neutral. But the only change Comsol made to the scheme was to increase its generating capacity from 5MW to 19MW.

The site has a range of habitats recognised as important for biodiversity; it supports 20 endangered species of bird and a number of rare plants. Its spectacular 360° panorama of the Clyde is an attraction for tourists who support the island’s fragile economy.

North Ayrshire Council rejected the latest planning application, but the developer has appealed to the Scottish Government. So we need your help one more time.
